Kyra Tantao

Kyra Tantao (she/her) is a Latina actor, musician, playwright, and graphic designer currently residing alongside the rats in Brooklyn, New York. She earned her BFA in Theatre Arts at Boston University in May 2018. Most recently, Kyra played the role of ‘Morgan’ in the world premiere of ‘Orchid Receipt Service’ by Corinne Donly at MITU580. This past May she originated the role of ‘Jane’ in Natalie Margolin’s ‘The Day The Butcher Shop Closed’, which won best production at the SheNYC Arts Theater Festival. You can also catch Kyra dancing alongside Princess Nokia in her new music video, Sugar Honey Iced Tea (S.H.I.T.)Two of her new plays for young theatre artists saw their world premieres this year. ‘The Cool Kids Wear Black Lipstick’ at Acting Manitou and ‘The Tenants’ at the Wardlaw + Hartridge School. Kyra is the front woman and founder of the sweaty, anti-establishment, punk band, Monica Bang. But when she isn’t shredding on guitar, she’s probably parading around the city to find another jumpsuit to add to her closet.
