"you, like the sea at your feet, are always churning,
foaming at the mouth like something rabid and unpredictable"
- Eboni Hogan, Foreign Bodies

Poet and performer Eboni Hogan makes her return to theatre to tell the story of her mania-driven trek documenting six months of pure madness in Accra, Ghana - an ongoing battle with mental illness, whirlwind romances, endless nights of bar-hopping, and one unruly appendix.

Read more about Foreign Bodies in Eboni's interview with StageBuzz.

Born in the Bronx to an emcee and a choir girl, Eboni Hogan is an award winning performance poet, playwright and teaching artist. After studying theater at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she went on to become the 2010 Women of the World Poetry Slam Champion, 2010 Underground Indies Slam Champion, 2008 Urbana Grand Slam Champion, and a two-time representative of the Nuyorican Slam Team. She has traveled extensively, performing and facilitating workshops in over 30 U.S. cities, as well as abroad in Ghana, Germany and Austria. Her first collection of poems, “Grits” was nominated for a 2010 Pushcart Prize and her work can be found in multiple anthologies. She believes in the healing properties of bargain shopping and globe-trotting.

Foreign Bodies was originally developed and presented as part of Culture Project's Women Center Stage 2012 Festival
