"faith" wins PCTF Outstanding Overall Production of a Solo Show!

We are proud to announce that "faith" won Outstanding Overall Production of a Solo Show last night at the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity Awards!! 

Congratulations to Caroline and the whole "faith" team! Caroline also received a Planet Activist Award, which was accompanied by a speech and a new poem she wrote for the ceremony.

No Choice

Before every performance in high school,
Neely and I would meet backstage.

Huddled against the curtains, we moved
our fingers, gently undulating each stem,
each branch, each airbrushed touch
slowly, deliberately, eagerly.

Waves of energy, pulsating
between our hands,
the pending theatrics
rumbling in our veins,
awaiting our bodies
to canvass the stage.

The hands,
how they grasp space
and usher time
into a continuum of authenticity.

How they hold the last moments before this.

For there is nothing like the stage.

How it beckons,

how there is no other choice but to

keep going
to keep vulnerable
to keep risk
and fearless
and now
and present
and this.

How it nurtures.

When the curtain lifts
and the lights go up
there is nowhere else to move
but forward
there is no turning back.

No choice but to
keep going
smothered in anticipation
this all the world’s a stage
this reflection of life
this name in lights.

People always ask me if I get nervous,
is it not terrifying to be alone
with everyone else watching.

I think, what is less overwhelming
than knowing the only response
is to let go and let give?

There is no where else
so safe as here.
