How can I share my work at Poetic Open Sessions?

To share your work at Poetic Open Sessions, fill out THIS GOOGLE FORM to send your piece to the curatorial team for review. If our team thinks it is a good fit for the series, we will reach out to you via email with next steps.

Is this an open mic? 

Poetic Open Sessions is NOT an open mic. It is a curated open-application series, and our team does select artists ahead of time. If you are interested in participating with us for an open mic, sign up for our MAILING LIST to receive updates on our regular Open Mics with New York Theatre Workshop.

What kind of work are you looking for?

We’re currently seeking submissions of new poetic works in any stage of the development process. Works of all disciplines and styles are encouraged, with a particular focus on works that explore the intersection of poetic language and performance. Our monthly sessions include solo poetry sets of up to 10 minutes and short plays/play excerpts of up to 15 minutes. If you are submitting a full-length work, feel free to submit the full script and be sure to indicate which section you are selecting to present for this series.

Can I apply for more than one Session?

Yes! Please apply for any and all Sessions that would work with your schedule.

Is there an application fee? Do I get paid to present?

There is no application fee associated with Poetic Open Sessions, nor are there stipends for artists presenting in this program.

Will you find a director and cast my piece?

Artists that are selected to present their work are sent list of artists in our community that are interested in participating in Poetic Open Sessions to support featured artists artists as directors, actors, musicians, etc. We will offer this tas a resource, but Poetic Theater Productions will not actively cast and direct your piece for you as a part of this program.

Are these Sessions recorded? Can I get a video of my presentation?

Poetic Theater Productions does not supply any official recording of the event, though we do typically have someone taking photos for social media. Artists are free to record your their own pieces.

UPDATE: For virtual sessions held over Zoom, Poetic Theater Productions will be recording the conference calls, and limit recording access for attendees. Artists may request that they receive the recording of their presentations.
